University Libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the nation's oldest public university, advances the study of Russia, Eurasia and Eastern Europe through its collections, digitization efforts, and research support for UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and staff, for the residents of the State of North Carolina, and for scholars worldwide.

The Library collects materials primarily from Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Ukraine, in addition English, French and German language materials on this world area. Collecting for Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and other former Soviet republics is done in cooperation with Duke University Libraries within the Triangle Research Libraries Network.

One of the major strengths of the collection is its holdings on the Russian diaspora, exemplified most notably by the André Savine Collection, which includes materials dealing with the White Armies in the Russian Civil War and in exile. A related Czechoslovak Legion Collection includes legionnaire publications from the Siberian anabasis.
